Maribel Gomez grew up in Queens, New York and graduated from St. John’s University in 1996 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Following college, she spent the next 23 years working as a Plaintiff’s Personal Injury litigation paralegal while starting her family and gaining experience. Recognizing her potential, in 2014, she was provided an opportunity to pursue her life-long dream and enrolled in the Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center four-year evening program. While balancing full-time employment and family life, she successfully completed her J.D in 2017, even graduating one semester ahead of schedule.
While at Touro, Maribel was a member of the Trial Advocacy Program and competed in numerous Trial competitions in Brooklyn and Queens Supreme Court. Her hard work and dedication earned her several awards and recognitions including the Excellence for Future Award in Trial Practice, Criminal Procedure and Law Practice Management and was awarded for her work with the Nassau County District Attorney’s Youth Court program in Hempstead. She also was the proud recipient of the Excellence in Trial Advocacy award and Stephanie Estevez Memorial Scholarship.
She is currently an associate and trial attorney at Grey & Grey, L.L.P., in the same Personal Injury division where she had been a paralegal. Maribel also serves on the Board of the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association and is a Co-Chair of LIHBA’s Community Outreach Committee. Maribel presently resides in Commack with her husband and two children.
